"One of my favourite places to visit - a grown up lego land, with culture and things."

A bold painting with minimal pallette, strong shadow and sharp form.

Notes from 2016. "I visit the Barbican a few times a year whether for a talk, cinema, exhibition or a walk round. I find it a fascinating place, some many different view points in this bold construction. I have painted quite few paintings of different areas of the Barbican. What caught my eye here was the way the light fell onto the monolithic style of structure and the way it changed the colour of the building. It was late morning in the summer and the sun was already quite high. I emboldened the colours I saw to create a soft but strong painting to reflect the architecture."
