Bryher (place of hills) is one of the smaller of the inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly. The hills – Gweal, Watch, Timmy's, Heathy and Samson – are too exposed to be cultivated and Bryher's residents have to make their lives in a relatively narrow zone between hill and shore. It is another area of outstanding natural beauty and peace.
For this painting and the triptych overall I used a calming and peaceful palette to bring about the serenity of this beautiful area.
